7 CRYSTAL QUEST® Water Softener Resin |

| - Color: Red
- Density: 30 pounds per cubic foot
- Description: Gel Type Strong Acid Cation Exchange Resin
CRYSTAL QUEST® CQ-WSR-1000 Water Softener Resin is used to soften water. It can be regenerated with either potassium chloride or sodium chloride. Typically it requires about 10% more salt to regenerate with potassium chloride salt when compared to sodium chloride salt. The advantage of potassium salt is that it does not contribute to a high sodium diet and the backwash can be discharges onto a lawn or garden. Sodium chloride salt will kill plants so it must be discharged into a sewer system salt and remove iron levels up to 4 p.p.m. It can be regenerated at 8, 12 and 15 lbs per ft3 salt dosages. |

8 CRYSTAL QUEST® CQ-Ca for Acid Neutralizing |

| - Color: Near White
- Density: 90 pounds per cubic foot
CRYSTAL QUEST® CQ-Ca Acid Neutralizing is a naturally occurring calcium carbonate media. One of the advantages of CRYSTAL QUEST® CQ-Ca is its self-limiting property. When properly applied, it corrects pH only enough to reach a non-corrosive equilibrium. It does not overcorrect under normal conditions. Upon contact with CRYSTAL QUEST® CQ-Ca, acidic waters slowly dissolve the calcium carbonate to raise the pH which reduces the potential leaching of copper, lead and other metals found in typical plumbing systems. Periodic backwashing will prevent packing, reclassify the bed and maintain high service rates. Depending on pH, water chemistry and service flow, the Calcite bed will have to be periodically replenished as the CRYSTAL QUEST® CQ-Ca is depleted. As the CRYSTAL QUEST® CQ-Cas calcium carbonate neutralizes the water, it will increase hardness and a softener may become necessary after the neutralizing filter. |

9 CRYSTAL QUEST® CQ-S-100 Sediment media |

| - Color: Near white
- Density: 37.5 pounds per cubic foot
CRYSTAL QUEST® CQ-S 100 has many outstanding advantages over the more common granular filter medias used for suspended solids reduction. It's fractured edges and irregular surface provides a high surface area and complex flow path for efficient removal of suspended matter through out the filter bed, typically reducing suspended solids down to the 20-40 micron range. CRYSTAL QUEST® CQ-S 100's larger particle size creates less pressure loss through the filter and allows deeper sediment penetration into the bed for higher sediment loading and longer filter runs. This large and irregular shape prevents the screening and caking of sediment in the top several inches of the filter bed as happens in the typical sand filter. CRYSTAL QUEST® CQ-S 100s light weight means lower backwash rates and better bed expansion to release trapped sediment and rinse the filter media during the backwash cycle. This ideal combination of particle shape, size and density makes it a good choice where quality water filtration and water conservation are important. |

10 CRYSTAL QUEST® CQ-IGS for Reducing Iron, Manganese and Hydrogen Sulfide (rotten egg smell) |

| - Color: black
- Density: 85 pounds per cubic foot
CRYSTAL QUEST® CQ-IGS is formulated from a glauconite green sand which is capable of reducing iron, manganese and Hydrogen Sulfide (rotten egg smell) from water through oxidation and filtration. Soluble iron and manganese are oxidized and precipitated by contact with higher oxides of manganese on the CQ-IGS granules. The Hydrogen Sulfide (rotten egg smell) is reduced by oxidation to an insoluble sulfur precipitate. Precipitates are then filtered and removed by backwashing. When the oxidizing capacity power of the CQ-IGS bed is exhausted, the bed has to be regenerated with a weak potassium permanganate (KMnO4) solution, thus restoring the oxidizing capacity of the bed. 1½ to 2 ounces of potassium permanganate, in solution, per cubic foot of CQ-IGS is considered sufficient for normal regeneration. It is required to vigorously backwash and regenerate the bed when it is placed in service and before its oxidation capacity is totally exhausted. Operating the bed after oxidation capacity is exhausted will reduce its service life and may cause staining. |

11 CRYSTAL QUEST® CQ-BR for Reduction of Dissolved Iron and Manganese |

| - Color: black
- Density: 37.5 pounds per cubic foot
CRYSTAL QUEST® CQ-BR is an efficient and economical media for the reduction of dissolved iron and manganese compounds from raw water supplies. It may be used in either gravity fed or pressurized water treatment systems. CRYSTAL QUEST® CQ-BR acts as an insoluble catalyst to enhance the reaction between dissolved oxygen (D.O.) and the iron com pounds. In ground waters the dissolved iron is usually in the ferrous bicarbonate state due to the excess of free carbon dioxide and is not filterable. CRYSTAL QUEST® CQ-BR, acting as a catalyst between the oxygen and the soluble iron compounds, enhances the oxidation reaction of Fe++ to Fe+++ and produces ferric hydroxide which precipitates and may be easily filtered. The physical characteristics of CRYSTAL QUEST® CQ-BR provide an excellent filter media which is easily cleaned by backwashing to remove the precipitant. CRYSTAL QUEST® CQ-BR is not consumed in the iron removal operation and therefore offers a tremendous economic advantage over many other iron removal methods. |

12 CRYSTAL QUEST® CQ-PY for Reduction of Iron, Sulfur and Manganese |

| - Color: Near black
- Density: 125 pounds per cubic foot
CRYSTAL QUEST® CQ-PY is a naturally mined ore, CRYSTAL QUEST® CQ-PY is a mineral form of manganese dioxide which has been used in water treatment for more than 75 years. CRYSTAL QUEST® CQ-PY is a granular filtration media for hydrogen sulfide (rotten egg smell) , iron and manganese reduction. CRYSTAL QUEST® CQ-PY functions as a catalyst, but itself remains relatively unchanged. CRYSTAL QUEST® CQ-PY ® works on a principle whereby the hydrogen sulfide, iron and manganese are oxidized and trapped on the media while simple backwashing cleans the bed. No chemical regeneration is required, nothing is imparted into the drinking water and CRYSTAL QUEST® CQ-PY has a high capacity for low contaminant concentrations. CRYSTAL QUEST® CQ-PY can be used in conjunction with aeration, chlorination, ozone or other pretreatment methods for difficult applications. Chlorine or other oxidants accelerate the catalytic reaction. Because of its heavy weight, it is very important that CRYSTAL QUEST® CQ-PY filters are backwashed properly to insure adequate bed expansion and continued service life. |
